Why Your Home Needs a Touch of "Slow Living"

Let’s be honest—most of the things we buy for our homes these days come out of a cardboard box from a big-box store. They look fine, but they don’t really feel like anything. They don’t have a soul.
Lately, more people are moving toward something called "Slow Living." It’s a fancy term, but it really just means choosing things that are made by hands, things that take time, and things that actually have a story behind them. It’s about making your home feel less like a showroom and more like a sanctuary, a cool, calm and soothing space that recharges your mind, body and soul.

Bringing Rajasthan Home
I live and work in Rajasthan, a place where art isn't something you just see in a museum—it’s everywhere. You see it in the hand-painted walls of old homes, the rhythm of local music, and the way people here have spent centuries perfecting crafts by hand.
When I started Aasri Living, I wanted to take that spirit—the patience and the heritage—and mix it with a modern, clean look. Think of it as "Modern Minimalist" meets "Organic Earth." You get the beauty of traditional Indian craftsmanship, but in colors and styles that fit perfectly in a modern apartment or a breezy coastal home.
The Magic of Macrame
You’ve probably seen macrame before, but there’s a big difference between a mass-produced piece and something knotted by hand.
Every Knot Has a Story
In a handmade macrame plant hanger, every single knot is done with intention. I use high-quality cotton cords in colors that feel like they came straight from the ground—warm rust, deep army green, earthy mustard, and terracotta. These aren't just "colors"; they are the shades of the desert and the forest.
Patterns That Breathe
The Spiral: There’s something so calming about a spiral design. It adds a bit of movement to a corner of a room without being "too much."
The Leaf: This is for the true plant lovers. It brings a botanical, leafy feel to the hanger itself, making your plant look like it's part of a piece of hanging art.

Why Hang Your Plants?
If you’re like me, you’ve run out of floor and shelf space for your green friends. But hanging plants does more than just save space:
Better Light: Most plants love being near a window. Hanging them lets them catch the sun at the perfect height.
No More Clutter: It draws the eye upward. If you have a small room, hanging a plant makes the ceiling feel higher and the room feel bigger.
The "Vibe": There is nothing quite like a "Retro-Boho" corner with a few plants hanging at different heights. It instantly makes a room feel cozier.
Pro Tip: Instead of using metal racks or plastic hooks, I love hanging my pieces on a simple, natural wooden stick. It keeps everything looking organic and real. Another reason is sometimes, the sticks are easily available here!
